Sydney Skeptics in the Pub

Look who came to Skeptics in the Pub on June 6. We can't promise this sort of thing every month, but there is never a shortage of fun and fine people to meet. See more about it here.

Bed of Nails

Some Melbourne Skeptics amuse themselves while demonstrating a scientific fact.

Flock of Dodos

You might have seen a showing of the DVD Flock of Dodos at a recent Skeptics event. The DVD takes a close look at the idiocy of Intelligent Design, the evolved form of creationism. Why not have your very own copy to watch whenever you like? It's one of the many books and other publications available through our online book shop. This particular product is from the Creationism list.

the Skeptic

The latest version of our fine magazine, the Skeptic, with a new look and another new editor is on its way to subscribers' mailboxes right now. If you aren't familiar with this excellent publication it could be because you haven't subscribed. You can fix this awful oversight here.

DVD2008 Convention DVD

The DVD with the presentations from the 2008 National Convention is now available. Get it at the Skeptics shop.

Skeptics go unclothed

Australasian Science magazine contains a regular column from Australian Skeptics called The Naked Skeptic. We are gradually adding all past columns to this site, and you can see the work in progress here. You can see the latest column here.

Write stuff. Get published.

The Web Wrangler can't do all this by himself. He has a life, a job and his own projects, so contributions to this site are always welcome. The only restrictions are that the material must have something to do with the aims and objectives of Australian Skeptics and must not expose us to legal action. Get writing.

The Challenge

We want to give away $100,000. Nothing would please us more than giving away $100,000 to someone who can prove that they can do the things we suspect cannot be done. Click here to read about our challenge to psychics, clairvoyants, dowsers and other practitioners of the paranormal arts. You can also click here to get some cards you can print out to invite your friends to apply.

Don't forget the bookshop

There are many books on several subjects dear to the hearts of skeptics available from our bookshop. Want to find the latest reading about pseudoscience, religion or critical think (plus other topics)? If so, you have come to the right place. Commission from the sale of books through Amazon goes towards the costs of running this site. Enjoy!

Book of the Week

The War Against Boys : How Misguided Feminism Is Harming Our Young Men The War Against Boys : How Misguided Feminism Is Harming Our Young Men by Christina Hoff Sommers. It is always a good thing to correct an injustice. It is not such a good thing when the correction veers too far and the injustice is reversed. Unfortunately, for some fanatics total destruction of the other side is the minimum acceptable outcome. Some feminists are just this sort of fanatic.
